SkyCal Refunds and Cancellation

This page explains how to cancel SkyCal Pro, what happens to the rest of a period you have already paid for, and when SkyCal issues a refund. It sits alongside the terms of service.

What You Are Paying For

SkyCal Pro is a subscription for one household. It costs 6.99 US dollars per month or 59.99 US dollars per year. Payment is by card through Stripe, and the subscription renews automatically at the same price and interval until it is canceled. Only the household owner can start or manage a subscription.

How To Cancel

Open Manage billing in SkyCal. That opens the Stripe customer portal for your household, where you can cancel the subscription yourself. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Nothing is charged after that.

You keep Pro until the end of that paid period. SkyCal reads the cancellation state back from Stripe, so the app shows the date access ends. When it ends, the household moves to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted at that moment, but Free plan limits apply again, so adding or editing recipes, the photo scrapbook, sleep tracking, and profiles beyond the third become unavailable until the household subscribes again. Automated recipe imports also stop, and the monthly import allowance no longer accrues.

The Stripe portal is configured for self-service cancellation only. Changing between the monthly and yearly plan is not available there. To switch, cancel the current subscription and start the plan you want after it ends, or contact support and ask.

Refunds

Any charge can be refunded in full within 30 days, no questions asked. The 30 days are counted from the date the card was charged, not from the date the subscription started, so each renewal has its own 30 day window.

To request a refund, email sxnorthrop15@gmail.com from the address on the account and say which charge you want refunded. No reason is required. Requesting a refund is not the same as canceling. Cancellation is done by you in the Stripe customer portal, as described above, and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refunding a charge in full also ends the subscription immediately, because the period that charge paid for no longer exists. The household moves to the Free plan when the refund is issued rather than at the end of the period. If you would rather keep Pro through the period you already paid for, cancel in the Stripe customer portal instead of asking for a refund.

More than 30 days after a charge, that charge is not refunded. Canceling still stops every future renewal, and access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refunds are returned to the card that was charged, through Stripe. Once SkyCal issues a refund, the time it takes to appear on a statement is up to the card issuer, usually 5 to 10 business days.

When SkyCal Will Refund Regardless

SkyCal refunds a duplicate charge, a charge on a household that never received the Pro features it paid for, and the unused part of a period if SkyCal ends the service for a household that has not broken the terms. If you believe you were charged in error, contact SkyCal before disputing the charge with your bank. Opening a dispute ends the household's Pro access straight away, while the bank works through it, so a direct refund is both faster and less disruptive.

What Is Not Refunded

Gift access and lifetime access are not purchases and have no cash value, so they cannot be refunded. Usage that has already been consumed is not refunded on its own, for example automated recipe imports already used from the monthly allowance or assistant requests already made. A period is not refunded because it went unused, outside the refund window above.

Failed Payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it according to its own schedule and SkyCal keeps the household's access in step with the subscription status Stripe reports. If the subscription ends because payment could not be collected, the household moves to the Free plan and can subscribe again at any time.

Changes To This Policy

SkyCal may update this policy. The version in effect when you were charged is the one that applies to that charge. The effective date at the top of this page shows the current version.
